This is a Japanese/Asian restaurant favorite and SO easy to make at home. Healthy, fun and delicious. The key to this recipe is a GOOD QUALITY beef filet (I used an American Wagu) and a VERY sharp knife!!!! Go ahead and giver this recipe a try...it looks daunting but it is really easy!!!
Substitute sushi grade tuna for the beef and its equally awesome!

Servings 4-6 Steps 5
ingredients
Marinade
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup ponzu sauce
2 tsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
2 cloves garlic chopped
2 green onions roughly chopped
2 inches fresh ginger chopped
½ pound beef filet in a block
Sauce
¼ cup soy sauce
2/3 cup ponzu sauce
1 inch finely chopped ginger
½ tsp wasabi (optional)
directions
1. Combine all of the marinade ingredients in an airtight container that will fit the beef. Mix well, submerge the beef and refrigerate overnight.
2. On a grill top, or very hot pan sear each side of the beef for about 1-2 min per side. Remove and let it cool in the refrigerator for about an hour
3. In a small sauce pan combine the ingredients for the sauce, bring to a bubble, reduce the heat to very low and reduce for about 15 minutes
4. When the beef is cooled, use a VERY sharp knife and slice the beef about 1/8 to ¼ inch thin slices. (see the photo as this is a very important step)
5. Arrange on a serving plate and spoon the sauce over the beef.
