From deep in the Middle East and Northern Africa this is an incredible spice mix. Exotic, fragrant, versatile and quite frankly...amazing. Baharat literally means spices in Arabic. Different regions use slightly different variations on the mix, the one I like is more North African (Maghreb region). It conjures up thoughts of mystery, smells and memories of this magical region.
I use it for many recipes, both Arabic and Western. It goes great with just about any meat, hearty veggies and even as a spice in soup and stews.
