Israeli Kabobs

This is a twist on one of the most popular street foods of the country...and the region. Every Middle Eastern country (and family) has their own version of kabobs and this is mine...a low carb, low fat healthy one!


2-4 servings Steps 4


ingredients


1 lb ground turkey

2 tbl olive oil

3 garlic cloves chopped

1 bunch of mint chopped

1 bunch of cilantro chopped

1.5 tsp kosher salt

3 tbl Merguez Spice Mix (see my other recipe)

4 cherry tomatos

Cooking spray for the grill

Bamboo skewers presoaked in water for about 30 min to an hour


directions

1. Combine the turkey, olive oil, garlic, mint, cilantro, salt and spice mix in a bowl and mix with your hands


2. Using the bamboo skewers mold the meat around them so it looks like a sausage (see the photo) and put a cherry tomato on the end


3. Heat the BBQ or grill pan on high and when it reaches about 400° spray the pan and carefully put the kabobs on the grill.


4. Reduce the heat a bit med high BBQ (or grill pan) about 4 min on each side. The internal temperature of the meat should be at 165°


I like to serve this with cauliflower hummus or cauliflower rice and lemon grilled veggies!
